Beilefelder chickens were first developed in Germany in the 1970's. They are bred for their superior meat quality, excellent egg laying ability, and gentle temperament. They are a true dual purpose bird. The added bonus of this breed is they are autosexing, meaning you can tell whether they are male or female at hatch. They lay large to extra large eggs and are good foragers. Hardy in all weather conditions as well.
Our girls are continuously exposed to our roosters, though we can't guarantee fertilization, we have yet to use an egg from them that has not been fertilized after they initially begin laying.
